Is that virus / spyware warning I get while surfing the web really true?

While surfing the web, you get a pop-up message saying you have virus’s and / or spyware on your computer. Or maybe you have been getting random pop-ups on your computer screen and one of these comes up. How do you know? If you have a Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware scanner on your computer, it will display somewhere in the Virus / spyware alert the name of their company. So if you have Trend Internet Security, it should state Trend or even Trend Internet Security.

These fake pop-ups really have no clue if your infected or not. They are fake programs or animated graphics to fool you into installing their program. When you download the “full version” to scan your computer, the fake program will pretend to remove the bad stuff it finds. In fact it will even install spyware on your computer. Some may even ask for money to reverse action.

The best course of action is to ignore the pop-up and click on the Red X to close the window. To be safe, you can run a manual scan on your computer with your current Anti-Virus / Anti-Spyware program or use one of the free online scanners I have listed on my website.

If you do not currently have a comprehensive security suite (Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Firewall product), please find a reputable product and purchase and install it. If you are unsure of what product to be and / or need help installing it, need support or professional removal of spyware and viruses, please contact Beacon Technology Solutions LLC!
